Profile
Mikagami Tokiya is one of the main characters in the anime/manga series, Recca no Honō (Flame of Recca). He is also known as Mi-chan (coined by Fuuko), Mii-bō (coined by Domon and Recca; it means something along the lines of "brat"), Mika-chan (coined by one of his neighbors), and John (coined by a kinky lady villain named Marie).
Tokiya is 16 years old (17 in the anime), and is a sophomore at Nashikiri High School. He was born on November 13 (making him a Scorpio), and his bloodtype is A. He wields the madōgu
His voice is provided by Midorikawa Hikaru in the original Japanese versions of the ''Flame of Recca'' games and anime, by Vincent Gutierrez in the Filipino dub, and by Paul Hunter in the English dub.
Background
When Tokiya was nine years old, his parents died in a car accident, and he and his sister Mifuyu (more info on her here) were left to fend for themselves. They were shunted from home to home, from relatives' houses to homeless shelters, until Mifuyu could earn enough money to get themselves their own apartment.Things were going pretty well for the siblings, but that all ended one night when two unidentified men forced their way into their home seeking the family heirloom, Ensui. One of the men lunged at them with a knife, and Mifuyu shielded Tokiya, ending up with a fatal wound on her back.
Once the men were gone and the paramedics had put Mifuyu on a stretcher, she handed him Ensui, saying that it would protect him, and that he should protect it.
Tokiya eventually found his way to Meguri Kyōza (you can find more info about him here, but watch out for spoilers), whom he had heard was a great swordsman, and Tokiya asked him to teach him how to kill people because he wanted to avenge his sister. Meguri took him in and raised him, and trained him to be the warrior that we all know and love.
Although Tokiya was a cold and aloof in the beginning of the series, he slowly warmed up to the Hokage team, starting off with Yanagi, whom he valued as a sister (and he showed some hints of valuing her MORE than a sister, actually), and eventually becoming more attached to the rest of the Hokage (without losing his characteristic habit of insulting and teasing them).
(a fuller, spoiler-filled version of Tokiya's background story can be found in the page about Meguri Kyōza here.)
